Veterinary Behavior Virtual Consultations

Accessible, collaborative care options designed to support pets and their families when in-person consultations are not possible.

Expanding Access to Veterinary Behavior Care

Dr. Tucker has long been an advocate for virtual care options to be available to veterinarians and clients across the United States to better help more pets. While there are limitations to virtual care options dictated by each state, we can work collaboratively with your veterinarian to make progress in many cases.

In-Person vs. Virtual Care

It is also important to note that In person veterinary behavior consultations are going to be the most thorough option for veterinary behavior care. This is because there is great nuance in having a behavior conversation that yields underlying causes, contributing factors, and back and forth conversations on limitations in implementing a treatment plan. It also allows for  real time observation of both physical and emotional health .  We can also adjust medication and continue direct email follow up until the progress assessment is recommended because a legal veterinary client patient relationship has been established. However, we do not want to deter those who do not have the option to travel or a time that works for them to be seen in person from gaining access to veterinary behavior care. The next best option is virtually with an “ in person virtual” to allow for back and forth conversation as this allows for a more tailored behavior plan to occur as we go more in depth about the history of your pet both medical and behavior, underlying medical disorders, your unique family needs, and your pets  environment and potential ability to modify such. Lastly, an email virtual consultation can be chosen in which a behavior report is received but this does not include extensive post report follow up but allows for access of veterinary behavior care no matter the location of the client.
